white gold or yellow gold?

My hubby-to-be and I are going to pick out wedding rings on Saturday.
I'm undecided as to what type of gold I want. He definitely wants
white gold for his ring. I wear mainly yellow gold, so I'm leaning in
that direction. But at the same time white gold would be a nice
change for me. And of course there is always platinum. Arrrgghhhh,
too many decisions! Any advice would be appreciated.
This is as much a personal as a style decision...and one you will live with for
a long time! So make sure to trust your instincts.
A few thoughts:
*Your ring and your husband's do NOT have to match, in metal, style, anything.
Unless you two dress in matching wardrobes, don't worry about it.
*Many jewelers feel a white metal sets off the diamond in the best way (if
yours will have a stone)...but a diamond can be set in white prongs/bezel to
accomplish this, even if the actual ring is yellow.
*If most of your jewelry is yellow gold, that says something about your taste,
coloring, etc. Don't forget that! The wedding professionals, again, often favor
platinum, followed by white gold, but it's your finger!
*Finally, keep an open mind, and have fun trying on all sorts of rings. Also,
there is a color difference between 14 and 18 K gold, as well as all sorts of
colored gold (peach, rose, etc.)
I don't wear much yellow gold so I chose white gold. My husband's ring is a
huge hunk of yellow gold. It suits him, as mine suits me.

Why not a combination of colors? The pictures don't do them justice, but
you can check out some combined gold colors at www.georgesawyer.com . (I
don't have any sawyer jewelry, but I have seen and touched and admired it.)
I don't wear a wedding ring most of the time.

My original wedding ring was a vintage 23K plain gold band; it had a very
warm quality, but it was soft, so "patina" was developing rapidly. It fell
of in a lake several years ago. I replaced it with a band that was braided
yellow, white and rose gold. The braid was flat and reminded me of those
"rings" we used to make with gum wrappers. It has a matte finish and is
very informal.

you should each get something that you will enjoy wearing every day
forever. I have to say, I love my wedding bad, I think its divine, and it
looks great with my engagement ring. It does not match my husband's ring.
But he loves his ring, it suits his style, and it makes him happy to put
it on every morning.

get what you want, and feel great wearing. And the same should go for
your fiance. be happy. after the festivities, the only outward sign you
got married will be your rings. If you are choosing to get wedding rings,
choose something you both love.
