Unique Man Jewelry

I shop Ebay's designer category regularly, as most of you know,
especially when I am at work. Because i have time and nothing else to
do.

I am blown away by the "ONE OF A KIND" designs. All the designers say
"All of my designs are one-of-a-kind." And I want to email them and
say that if their design is so original then why are there HUNDREDS of
necklaces in the same category on the very same auction site, let
alone in the world, that look JUST LIKE THE NECKLACE THEY ARE SELLING
as one-of-a-kind.

What's your thought???
Actually this isn't such a bad thing... sometimes I have wild ideas but
problems with structure... if I use a structure that is already proven to be
stable, wearable, comfortable, then my creation is more likely to be sold
and worn than if I go off on some tangent that may look cool but who could
wear it? I'm thinking of some of the designer jewelry in B&B this issue...
one piece is designed around a piece of driftwood. In the photo it looks
lovely but who could wear it? And some of it looks so heavy - to someone
like me who has neck problems anyhow - I don't think I could stand it on my
neck. And another thing I wonder about - shouldn't the jewelry enhance the
wearer, call attention to their faces, etc., instead of hollering, "Look at
the PIECE man!"?

When I say a piece of jewelry or a kit is unique, I mean that there is only
one of them and I probably couldn't reproduce it exactly if I want to. I
can't guarantee that somebody out there somewhere hasn't come up with
something very similar, who can?

As far as marketing goes, it's the status quo to puff and fluff stuff to
make the item seem utterly irresistable... whether that's the truth or not.
I strive to represent my work as honestly as possible and let the buyer
decide if it is irresistable or not.
