Avodart (Dutasteride) For Treatment of Acne?

For some time now a new drug produced by GlaxoSmithkline is available. It is
called Avodart (Dutasteride). Dutasteride is an inhibitor of both 5 alpha
reductase(5AR) Type I and Type II. Especially by inhibiting 5AR Type I it
should be able to eliminate the main cause of acne.

However, Avodart is currently FDA approved only for the treatment of prostate
enlargement.

Has anyone tried to use it for acne or has discussed such treatment with
his/her doctor?
-Some people are using Avodart in the U.S. to treat hairloss. It is
similar to Propecia (Proscar) but stronger and as you posted works
with both enzymes (propecia works with only one - and can cause acne).

I was interested in trying it (for both stopping hair from thinning
*and* preventing acne) and did plenty of reading on hairloss.com and
decided to wait until more is known about it. It's very new.

- I have tried it, for 3.5 months so far, and no change in acne. I have
now cleared up using Klear Action so I may never know, and my oil seems to
have suddenly reduced using Panthenite capsules just when they are expected
to kick in (10 days after starting).

I don't think it's an acne cure, although I have heard some people claim it
helped.

I've had no loss of libido or any side-effects, and it's too early to see
hair regrowth (6 months).
