Question For Dr. Nase On New Skin Care Ingredients and Rosacea
Do you know anything about the new skin care ingredients Matrixyl and
Argeriline? Are they okay to use on Rosacea skin? They are both
Peptides and supposed to help with wrinkles. The Oil of Olay
Regenerist has Matrixyl in it and there are many products out there
that have Argeriline in them. I was hoping to get your opinion on
using these ingredients if you have Rosacea.
-I am sorry, but I have no idea what either of those ingredients do.
I will look them up and give you a guestimate.
-New wrinkle ingredient Acetyl Hexapeptide 3 promises to relax facial
muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. By limiting release of
neurotransmitters that control muscle contractions, wrinkle depth is
decreased. With wrinkles "hexed" away, significant others are sure
to stay spellbound. Health Products USA's Bioque, Cellular Skin Rx's
Relax-A-Line and other products are currently using the new
ingredient.
So, exactly how does this "Hex" work? Acetyl Hexapeptide 3 limits
the release of catecholamines that are needed to signal muscles to
contract. When the release of these important neurotransmitters is
limited, muscles can't contract as intensely. The result: wrinkle
depth is reduced.
The hexapetide is currently being used in several products on the
market. Centerchem claims that a 10% concentration of Acetyl
Hexapeptide 3 is needed to obtain visible results. A few of the
products that use the proper concentration are Bioque®, Crème de
Vie®, Firma-Taux® and Relax-A-Line™. The price to keep your
significant other spellbound? Anywhere from $120 for the Crème de
Vie® to $36 for the Relax-A-Line™. Compared with the pain and
expense of injections, these products seem sure to put the "hex" on
wrinkles.
Matrixyl is apparently a synthetic copper peptide that proclaims to
mimic proteinaceous enzymes. Introduced this year, copper peptides
enhance skin elasticity and provide anti-aging benefits.
