Maxing out all our credit cards and taking a second mortgage on the house to pay for the fert treatments....!!!!some question

After maxing out all our credit cards and taking a second mortgage on

the house to pay for the fert treatments, we now have six twitching

little fleshloafs in the ICU -- the seventh didn't make it so we're

looking at about $15,000 for its funeral, but we're hoping the

mourners will contribute to the burial fund so we won't be out too

much money. We also hope the PayPal link on the memorial web site

will bring in enough money to pay for the upkeep of the site.

I make about $40,000 a year and my wife used to make about $20,000

a year before she had to quit two years ago to concentrate on the

fert treatments. My employer has been going through a series of

layoffs for the past year and it looks like my job might be cut next

month.

We also just bought a new $42,000 SMooV, with the downpayment

coming from a loan against my 401K plan, so we can carry our new

litter around. Unfortunately, the roof of the house has sprung a

leak. I've already maxed out my 401K for loans and we've tried

applying for more credit cards but we keep getting turned down. The

only option I see is to take out a home equity loan to pay for the

new roof.

My wife and I have always dreamed about taking a Caribbean cruise,

and we found a great special on a 7 day Giftmas cruise for us and

our parents -- they're really looking forward to spending Giftmas in

the Caribbean with the grandkids. My question is this: Should we

repair the roof now or wait until after the cruise?
- Too funny.

Coincidentally, I attended a wedding last Saturday. This was the 2nd

wedding for the same family this summer (2 daughters - first one married

last June). I'm awfully curious how much this cost but I haven't broached

that topic yet
