Professional makeup?

Just curious as to why/if people are choosing or chose to have their makeup
done professionally? What benefit do you see to having someone help you
with this aspect of your wedding day attire/presentation? If you did do
this, did you find it helpful? I used to (in my 20's) wear make up. Now,
I do not wear any. I am having issues with dry skin and redness from
sunburn, and am wondering if a prof. makeup job/consultation would be worth
the investment. (?)
I did my own makeup for my wedding as I do everyday. I think skin care
is very important, but this must be started months before the wedding.
Makeup can help protect your face from the elements, like sun because it
has sunblock in it. It sounds like you need a good moisturizer and
sunblock!! I use Mary Kay, and I love it (though I don't use their
moisturizer)!! I have used it since high school because my mom used
it. They will do a free "makeover/consultation" with you and show you
how to care for your skin as well as how to apply makeup and which are
your best colors (which may surprise you). They will do a makover party
if you want your whole weddign party involved (that is what I did!!).
It really is educational, even if you don't plan on wearing much makeup
-- it is more about skin care, reather than makeup. The makeup is
cheaper than most department store brands (Cinique, Estee Lauder,
etc...), and they bring it directly to your door. If you try something
and you don't like it, they will take it back for a full refund or
exchange. That is one advantage that you don't get with any other
company. No, I do not sell it, so this is just from me. They have so
many colors to choose from (especially their foundation), that you are
sure to find colors right for you. Their foundation has SPF 8 in it, so
it does protect your face from the sun (which is an absolute must!!) I
don't wear much makeup myself (usually just foundation, blush, eye
shadow, and mascara) -- usually spend 5 minutes putting on makeup in the
morning, and that is plenty. I probably spent the same amount of time
on my wedding day (though I did wear makeup). I do not recommend having
your makeup done the day of your wedding, especially if you never wear
makeup. You probably will not like it. I went with a natural look, and
yoru Mary Kay consultant (or any other company you choose) can help you
achieve the look you want, then you can do it yourself. By the way, I
use Clean and Clear Moisturizer because it is lighter and does the job
just fine. Try it (apply twice a day)!
