Post partum depression
I hope it can help someome else. It is diffucult at best to find
information about this disorder. I am not a professional, I suffer from
ppd myself. I am going through it for the second time. There is a chat
room in WBS called psych central. wbs is accessed from http://wbs.net
The room is located in the home and living under the support option.
Membership to wbs is free, and its fast to get authorized to use. My
handle there is plopper, and I can be reaced via e-mail. The address is on
my homepage. Just select homepages, and search the handle plopper. I also
have powwow, and icq. If I can help anybody look for information, or just
talk to anybody about this disorder, I'd be happy to. Its different from
regular depression because of the added burden of having small children,
and the guilt associated. (at liest that's what I've found).
There is a postpartum depression mailing list too.
The list is for people with ppd, worried about getting ppd and those who
have survived it.
Also I am working on a pdd web page too. Right now it is a resources list
but if you are interested I can send it to you. It has URLs, phone numbers
and book titles.
Dr. Koop's web page has several depression support chat groups.
At http://drkoop.com/community/chat/mental.asp, you can get a complete
listing of all of the mental chats. In addition to the "Depression"
and "Bipolar" chats listed below, you may also be interested in their
Saturday night chat for people who just want to chat.
I have been involved in the Postpartum Depression listserv for some time
now and it has led me to open a chat room on irc.another.net for PPD.
Please email me in regards on how to get there. I can help you get set
up to chat if you are not already.
I should also mention that no one is excluded from this chat if your
depression is not postpartum related. PPD is not unlike other
depressions in the sense that we can all gain from sharing our
experiences.
