Personalized Baby Jewelry

As a soon-to-be grandad I have a question for all youwreckers out
there. What would YOU carve/turn for your grandchild that would lead
them to say fondly in years to come "My grandad made this for ME". I
have moderate skills in both areas but, rifgt now I'm running short in
the inspiration dept.
I don't carve or turn (on a regular basis), but I did make a
swell jewelry box for my daughter...

Here's the plans:

Many good suggestions so far. For something that will last for life and be
used over the years, I'd suggest a box. It can be simple or elaborate, it
can be personalized with either an engraved tag or special artwork or
inlays. It can hold rattles, diaper pins (do they still use them?),
lollipops, lost baby teeth, casette tapes, watches and adult jewelry as the
newborn reaches each stage of life. It will never go out of style, will
always be functional, can be made to appear masculine or feminine.

Be sure to engrave your name, date made, etc. If you want to be sure the
child still uses it over the years, when you visit, slip a quarter or dollar
in it when they learn about money.
