Online Architecture Degree Programs?
Can you point me toward a source for online arts degrees? I have only
seen business and general studies degrees, although one place offers a
criminology degree. Another offers masters in education or labor
relations.
Rarely in architecture school did we have a site for our projects that we
could actually visit....we had projects in the desert of New Mexico, in
along the shore of the Atlantic in South Africa and other places we'll most
likely never actually visit... and this is common for architecture schools.
As far as an education goes, it doesn't matter, if we're comparing how its
been done in the past.
I was lucky that at Broward Community College, thw two lead professors in
the first two years of architecture curriculum were actually practicing
architects. For all projects we did, even schematic charettes, we had a
site we could go to and analyze/sketch at.
Then at U of F, while most of the faculty was not made of practicing
architects, this trend continued anyway. Every undergraduate project we
had was based on a real site, with real objectives and program- a bank in
the center of Gainesville, Kanapaha botanical gardens, a sailing school
near Cedar Key, an inn in Savannah, a multipurpose theatre on campus. The
same trend continued in graduate school, with a McDonald's competition, a
charette at High Museum in Atlanta, a cultural center on campus and two
urban development projects, one in Maitland, where we made presentations
to the town council, and the second a redevelopment of an old industrial
lot into a marina- the property owned by an investment firm, to which we
again made presentations.
I also lucked out in having a structures professor who preferred hands-on
experience and would frequently get us to visit construction sites on
campus, or wherever we could. We also had some construction detailing on
some projects.
You're way out of your league, dood.
I was doing this shit when your DAD was wearing 3 cornered drawers and
shittin' yellow.
Your mindset is exactly what Gary and I have been describing.
YOU sponged off your parents for 4-5 years and now you think the world owes
you something.
Well, let me be the first to tell you.
The world doesn't owe you jack shitski.
You will get out of this life exactly what you deserve.
Some of us don't have the built-in resources that you had so we are seeking
alternative ways.
YOU on the other hand have extreme difficulty thinking outside the box.
In fact, the *box* intimidates the shit out of you.
Because your architect degree was *given* to you by your parents, you will
pay for it for the rest of your days.
You are doomed, dood.
In 5 years you will back here pissing and moaning about the lack of pay,
that all your friends are making more money than you. We've seen it here a
thousand times before. You're old news.
Someone slipped this poor chow the blue pill and he swallowed it with a big
grin.........
