Anyone ever did an online credit report for themselves?

I've never cared for credit, or particularly needed. But a friend of

mine wanted me to co-sign on a car for him. I told him my credit was

bad and sure enough was turned down. I have an outstanding student

loan.

But for S's and G's I decided to do a report. The student loan wasn't

there.....but all kinds of funky Shit was. Apparently I've lived in

Austin and Fort Worth and I never knew it. Needless to say I've

disupted those reports.

Anyone else have a similar experience?
I have indeed checked my credit reports, at all three

agencies, and with the exception of once when I buried my mortgage bill

under a stack of papers and it ended up just over a month late, there were

no negative entries.

Haven't run a credit check on myself, though I know I should just

bite the bullet and do it; find out whatever there is to find out. But

I have Qwest after me because there was a phone number in my name

somewhere in Michigan, and the phone bill was almost $400. I've never

lived in Michigan. Only visited there once twelve years ago. I'm

pretty sure I know what happened though; some

"friends"-turned-assholes out west where I used to live stole enough

identification info to open the account under my name. It took years

before they actually contacted me about it, but that's bureaucracy for

you. It's possible something similar has happened to you. Hopefully

you can get it cleared up without too much trouble.
