I'd love to Start a list of Make-at-Home Beauty Treatments
Anyone have hair/skin/bath treatments they've made at home and used?
Moisturizers are sooooo expensive and I've heard that they usually don't
do that much (especially as your skin ages). Things like cocoa butter,
almond oil, and herbs can be used to make preparations that work just as
well.
I'll contribute these two that I got out of an herbal book and have used
several times:
For blackheads:
rub a tomato half all over your face and then rinse with tepid water. i
actually think this works!
use half a plum tomato (less pulp) and if you have the patience to go over
it several times you can slice off another layer and do it again.
Moisturizing masque:
tsp plain yogurt
1/8 tsp grape seed or sweet almond oil (both can be gotten at grocery
stores nowadays--health food store if not--buy the stuff for eating not
massages, it's too expensive)
mix up. slather on. wait & relax. rinse w/warm water. pat dry gently.
-A mixture of plain yogurt and brewer's yeast makes a good mask - the yogurt helps
blotchiness and the yeast is a gentle exfoliant.
-Skin Scrub
I just grind oatmeal to a powder in my mortar and pestal, then add honey until
I get the consistency I want. I use that to scrub my skin and when I'm done
scrubbing, I leave it on for about 20 minutes while I relax.
Rinse with warm water and pat dry. (Caution: it's very tempting to start
licking around your mouth because it tastes so good!)
