I want to know more about National Student Loan Clearinghouse(NSLC)

Is there anyone working on transaction sets for application for

Guaranteed Student Loan, and the subsequent data exchange that takes

place between the school and guarantor, servicer, lendor, and

student?

Perhaps someone from SPEEDIE?

We're venturing into EFT for GSL, and are finding that each servicer

has their own formats for data exchange....seems like a field ripe

for standardization to me...

This program is large, and is growing as this is becoming the method

of federal student financial assistance. (I am aware of direct

lending...and have the same questions in this arena, though the

number of servicers is considerably smaller (namely:one)).

Any assistance would be appreciated.
You speak, SPEEDE listens! Yes, SPEEDE has

developed Transaction Set 190 which is being used in the student loan

arena. N. C. State University, UNC-CH, and UNC-Wilmington have just

completed a pilot project with the National Student Loan

Clearinghouse (NSLC) and we are sending enrollment information on our

student body to the NSLC on the Internet and they are doing the

certification for us to the loan agencies. The NSLC is new and, of

course, TS 190 is new also - but it works.

If you need more information about the transaction set, I will be

happy to send you a copy. If you need to know more about the

NSCL, I suggest you contact Ken Ostberg, Manager, Business

Development, National Student Loan Clearnighouse, 13100 Worldgate

Drive, Suite 245, Herndon, VA 22070,
