Canada - Motorcycle Training Cours

I've been reading this newsgroup for a while, and
hope you can answer my question for me.
I am interested in getting a motorcycle, but have never driven one
before. I'd like to know if it is possible for me to take some sort of
a training course so that I can learn to drive a motorcycle before I
actually buy one. I'd love to get a nice sporty bike, like a Katana,
but I have no intention of killing myself!
I live in eastern New Brunswick, Canada. Can anyone has any advice for
me ?

Check out your province's Canada Safety Council (probably named NB
Safety Council), they have an excellent program.
I took the 6 day course through the Safety Council on Vancouver
Island, BC. They provided the motorcycles, and had some helmets
available; you had to bring your own gloves, boots, and jacket.
The bikes they had went from 200cc to 450cc (guess what I rode). The
first part of the course was 4 days of classroom theory and parking
lot practice. The other part was 2 days of road riding, ending with
them administering the road test. The test was more difficult than
the one given by our motor vehicles branch as they followed us around
on their own bikes with a tape recorder for noting our mistakes.
Also, you should know how to ride a bicycle, one person in my class
didn't.
