Incompetent California Mortgage Broker. Any informations?
I refinanced with California Mortgage in Campbell, CA and they
took 2 and a half months to complete my package. It took 3
full time agents to get my re-finance completed. It had nothing
to do with qualifying. It was gross incompetence on their part -
to which they admitted, and offered to reduce fees if we continued
our re-fi with them. It was only after we threatened to go elsewhere
that they offered us a reduction in fees.
After I agreed, 3 days later the said they could not give me a reduction
in fees and a third person handled the final paperwork. Apparently the
first person I dealt with, Nelson Santiago, had a problem working with
women. He would only return calls to my spouse , and only intermittently.
Then his supervisor, Kevin Guest , offered to handle the case personally,
and offered a reduction in fees. Then he left town "unexpectedly" and
Chris Morris handled the paperwork. Within a week or so of my asking
for my paperwork and threatening to go elsewhere, the paperwork was
completed and we ended up with a much higher rate that expected.
I contacted the California Department of Real Estate and the Better Business
Bureau to file a complaint. I sent in a letter to Califorina Mortgage
and let them know we did this and they offered apologies then stated that
they had a new policy in place to make sure this doesn't happen again
and would I please not tell anyone else about this incident. The owner,
Steve Cornaglia, offered to take care of us personally if we ever needed
another re-fi or purchase.( Really, who would voluntarily go to the same
place to get knocked around twice?) He also sent us a 50 dollar check to pay
for a dinner that one of his agents had promised us earlier(after he
stood us up at the restaurant named ). Anyway the owner offered more
apologies and asked that we not tell anyone about this mishap. Well,
I did not agree to that so ....
In short, I do NOT recommend California Mortgage agents Nelson Santiago,
Kevin Guest or Chris Morris.
