I'm wondering if anyone knows of a distance class for
the pre-license mortgage broker course? The state of Florida,
where I am, requires the taking of a 24-hour course before
someone can take the exam. What I haven't been able to
figure out, despite many e-mails, is whether or not they allow
for the course to be taken online or through correspondence.
I haven't yet been able to find a distance provider of the course,
so I'm beginning to doubt it. If anyone can help, I'd sure appreciate it.
You might try contacting a World Marketing Alliance (WMA*) rep near you.
They do mortgages, refinancing etc., so they may be able to help you with
this.
I don't know if distance ed is possible in this area, but there may be
weekend classes by the same folks who give insurance and securities courses.
Dearborn Financial Institute, Inc, ( http://www.dearborn.com ) is one
possible source. I know they do insurance and securitiesm, but unsure about
mortgages. You may want to see if self-study is allowed.
In Michigan, we have a one-day class and a license (c. $800-$1,100) is
required. In most states, AFAIK, the class is it.

*DISCLAIMER (or whatever): I am affiliated with WMA. I do not recruit --
especially Floridians! (You guys are really into regulatory "protectionism"
down there! For examle, IIRC, you pretty much need a seperate insurance
license for each county/region. )
Whatever you do, Jake, get the facts on the hows and the whats.
