Can anyone recommend a mortgage broker Association?
deal with a company that is a member firm of the Mortgage
Banker's Association of America (MBA). These folks are called Mortgage
Bankers and not brokers. Look for their membership certificate in their
office. A broker can be anybody, where an actual member of the MBA has to
follow a very thorough investigation and accreditation to become a member
firm.
Also I'm not sure if you used a realtor or not with your transaction but if
you did defiantly call and ask for his/her assistance in this matter as
well. Realtors here at least in Texas belong to local real estate
organizations such as in my case Houston Association of Realtors, along with
Texas Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors. Your
realtor should be able to help you pursue this matter along with getting
assistance from the three organizations above. These three organizations are
very interested in hearing of unscrupulous lenders such as these. They also
have on staff legal departments that can assist or at least give you an idea
of how to approach this matter and what your looking at. Ask your realtor
after all they work for you, the relationship doesn't end at the closing
table.
