gold jewelry w/ platinum ring?

I was just wondering...if my boyfriend were to give me a platinum

engagement ring, would that mean I couldn't wear gold jewelry

anymore? Hypothetically speaking of course :-)

I have a platinum engagement/wedding set and I wear gold rings on my right

hand sometimes.

I do have a pair of hinged-hoop earrings which combine

brushed white gold and shiny yellow gold and a few tiny diamond chips.

I wear them with whatever combination of other metals I choose.

Unlike silver or white gold, the platinum is completely "white". If you

were to wear a white gold ring next to a platinum ring, the gold would

seem off-color. And plat. won't give a yellowed cast to the diamond(s)!

We had my aunt's emerald-cut diamond set in a very sleek, modern

platinum setting last year. I wear it with old-fashioned jewelry *and*

modern stuff, mixing colors and finishes (matte/shiny) all the time.

You can hardly go wrong!

I wear my mom's platinum engagement ring on my right hand and my gold

one on my left.

I think the 'bridge' piece is a good idea. Perhaps the wedding band could have

a yellow gold and platinum design. This would bring the gold in to tie in with

your other pieces.
