Loss Of A Child Jewelry
My daughter found a picture of her mother, grandmother and deceased
great grandmother. She asked who was the "old" women in the picture.
When told it was her Great Grandmother and she had died she has been
asking questions on death. Every couple of weeks she adds a new
twist, such sa Grandma looks old is she dying.
I wanted to teacher her not only about what we believe but what other
cultures and religions believe.
remember that when my own grandmother died and my
daughter was young.
I showed her a catapillar and then a butterfly crysalis in a butterfly
farm, and we were lucky enough to see a butterfly emerge, flap its damp
wings dry and rise in beauty into the foliage above.
that is what dying is I told her, when your body dies , the real you is
like a butterfly that emerges and goes on.
She was delighted with the idea, and its still with her, though she is
now a mum herself, she taught her son about death using the same
metaphore. and come to think of it the same butterfly farm. (grin)
children accept death better if they can see like the butterfly that
their is something beyond death.
words dont mean that much to them,.
