You should be aware of the idea to save a few dollars from so called
"wholesalers", who may or may not be. TRUE "WHOLESALERS" DO NOT SELL TO
THE PUBLIC. At least any true "wholesaler" with any respect for the
industry as a whole. "Wholesaler" means, by definition, the sale of goods
in large quantities, as for RESALE BY A RETAIL BUSINESS ONLY. Hence, the
term "wholesaler" is truly misused. Whom you will be buying from is a
discounter, someone who is engaged in selling at less than high or full
retail.
With a little negotiating with your local jeweler, I truly believe you can
get close to, if not the same low price, as the so-called "wholesalers".
Remember, if the deal seems too good to be true, it usually is!
As a final note, people often ask if buying a diamond is considered and
investment. The answer is NO. If you are not in the business of buying
and selling diamonds, you should not consider a diamond an investment. If
you need to sell your diamond, no jeweler/dealer will offer you a profit if
they are in the business to also make a profit.
You do need to look carefully though. Because just as the retail dealers vary
from the shysters and high priced cheats to the very fine jewelers giveing great
service at very fair prices, so too do the internet dealers vary from those who
know next to nothing about what they sell, and give you no recourse later if
theres a problem, to those who essentially are using the net as extensions of
their very fine quality, knowledgeable staff, and fairly priced business
practices.
