Lalique Jewlery

I fell in love with and bought (on layaway) a gorgeous bracelet, pendant

and drop earrings set. The dealer is a reputable estate jeweler in Saratoga,

CA. She says the jewelery is 1920s (very deco and gorgeous) and made by

Lalique, however there are no markings. She bought a collection of them

in Paris several years ago.

Question: is anyone familiar with Lalique jewelery? This particular

pattern is set in sterling silver, a rectangular piece of matte crystal

with a shiny polished tiny crystal stone in the center (the bracelet is a

link of several of these). The jewelery was *not* signed. I thought

Lalique signed or stamped everything. Any more info would be appreciated.

My dealer didn't seem to know much more about them. BTW, I paid $140 for

bracelet, $90 for earrings and $70 for the pendant.

I still love the pieces, whether they turn out to be Lalique or not!
I have a book on Lalique Glass,by N. Dawes. He says on page 64

"by the early 1920's Lalique was manufacturing a wide range of glass

jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, buckles, buttons, and pins

and booches with metal maounts. The majority of metal-mounted jewelry

is made of clear glass and derives its iridescent, colorful sheen from

light-reflecting metal foil that is "trapped" between the glass and

mount. Broochs and bar pins were made into the 30's. Most are marked

with a stamp in the metal backing."

On page 65, he says most of the all glass jewelry made by Lalique was

not marked. or may be marked with a small R.

Hope this helps. If they are indeed lalique, I feel you have a good

bargain.
