How do you feel about online education?
I was looking for some input on the subject of online education and
the advantage of this rising trend. How do you feel about online
education after high school level of education? I am doing research on
this subject and would enjoy the opinons of others. Do you feel that
the education a student receives online is just as creditable as an
education in an on-campuss format?
One reknown professor told me that even online learning is
"bull manure". They have done much research to prove that it
doesn't work. I still have not received the published paper
from him.
In Singapore, however, online learning for math has now become
indispensable. For example, the teacher uses the interactive
online video to show students how geometric transformations
can be carried out using matrices, etc., within a few seconds.
She does not need to draw and re-draw on the blackboard and
the students learn very quickly about a topic which could
have taken several hours. The same lessons with narration
is available to the students for unlimited review at any time.
This type of teaching media and the accelerated learning
experience cannot be duplicated by any textbook.
In one of the public schools using our program, the parents
complained that they should not incur additional expenses for
their children's education because of online learning resources.
A decision was finally taken to dispense with the textbook!!
