Household Bank Credit "Services" ?
Household Bank Credit "Services" ?
Just a "heads up" and a hint of things to come - also a wish
I could go back a few years...
Got a notecard from Household Bank Credit - we have a card
with them that unfortunately carries a balance - that told me,
that, in order to better serve me, they were raising the interest
rate to 23.99 percent. What the....? Did I miss a payment or
something ? Current rate was around sixteen percent, and I thought
*that* was a high price to pay for some silly youthful exuberance.
So, I called, and after a lengthy wait, was told that the sudden
jacked rate was not due to my mishandling of our account,
but because Household was "reconfiguring and restructuring"
how they handle their credit accounts, and, so,they raised
*everybody's* interest rate. Wha...? In order to provide better
service to me, I'm supposed to pay almost ten percent more
on my bill ? I let their rep listen as I shredded the card and
told her to cancel the account. She told me that mine was
*far* from the first account cancelled today, and their phone
lines had been jammed since the notecards went out.
So, be wary. I know I'm just one more cash-cow idiot to them,
but if I hadn't read the mail carefully that day, I might have
missed it, or not looked carefully at the interest part of the
statement ( I always study it for any new charges, just in
case). The interest part always depresses me. Thank
heavens we didn't use that card anymore, and were in
the process of paying it off.
Hope ya'll don't get white notecards in the mail anytime
soon...and if you get an app from Household
-Interesting, my Household Bank account was "sold" last month to Fleet
Bank, the rate didn't go up (11.9%), but I raised my eyebrows. Wonder if
there is some sort of restructuring at Household.
-Dale, I *hope* yours doesn't leap like ours did ! It
