homeopathic treatment?

My sister is suffering from an as yet rather light form of MULTIPLE
SKLEROSIS. She has got some symptoms like balance problems and fatigue,
she can't walk very far. She has experienced an exacerbation after
giving birth to a child about two years ago.

As she is much into alternative medicine, she is convinced she will be
able to find a homeopathic cure for the disease.
I am rather sceptical about that, but would like to know more.

Has anybody heard about homeopathic or other alternative treatments for
MS that could be worth considering?
-I, too, have very mild symptoms from my MS- some tingling/numbness and I
can't walk very far. Fatigue when I'm in the midst of an exacerbation, but I
haven't had one for a while. No balance problems.

When I was first diagnosed, I sought treatment from a homeopath. I don't
know about where you are, but in the US it's expensive and not covered by
most insurance. (I actually got some of mine covered since my homeopath was
also an MD.)

Anyway, I took three difference remedies from him, did everything I was
supposed to in the way of no coffee/no mints/etc. I noticed absolutely no
difference in how I was feeling at all. Of course, my symptoms were so mild
there was not much to change. so- I gave it up after the third (expensive)
remedy and went to what I've been doing fine on ever since- plenty of
vitamins, Tai Chi, and just living my life.

- I can't tell you anything about the homeopathic treatment of MS, but
I have an opinion on homeopathy in general.

From a scientific point of view, homeopathy cannot work. It's like
trying to change the taste of the atlantic ocean by pouring a cup of
tea into it. Utterly impossible.

So much for science. Now my personal experience: I had bad acne when
I was a boy and since none of the usual treatments worked I went to
see a homeopath. At that time I was a very sceptical young man and did
not believe in miracles of any kind. That should rule out the placebo
effect at least at the conscious level. However, that doctor and his
funny little pills turned my bad acne into a catastrophically bad acne
within three weeks. I still have the scars to prove it. After three
months I got finally fed up with that quack and his insane mutter
"He's reacting! He's reacting!". Three weeks after I stopped taking
those pills my acne returned to a "normal" level.
On the other hand I know someone who claims that the same doctor had
saved her life by curing her neurodermitis.

The bottom line is that homeopathy can have powerful effects, alas
not alway the desired ones. I don't want to know what would have
happened if that doctor had treated my MS.
