Hawaiian Wedding Ring, Wedding in Hawaii ?

My fiancée and I are thinking of having our wedding in Hawaii. Her family is

in Japan, so she wouldn't have many Japanese friends and family if the

wedding was here, but if the wedding is in Hawaii, more of her close friends

and family could attend, and most of the people I would want there would be

able to attend.

So, we are expecting that around 20 people max would be able to make the

trip, which suits us both quite well. Has anyone done something similar?

Where do we even start the planning? A big reception seems pretty pointless

with only 20 people, so what would work with that small a group?
There's a book available through Amazon.com called "Romantic Wedding

Destinations : Getaways in Hawaii" that might help. Here's the blurb about

it: "Included are many helpful planning tips for the 'weddingmoon', a

directory of full-service wedding professionals who specialize in unique

destination weddings, and current marriage license requirements and important

contacts for each locale."

There are several destination wedding-related books -- and even a magazine

titled "Destination Weddings and Honeymoons". The Destination Wedding Ring

that I own also has at least three personal Hawaiian destination wedding

websites -- you might want to browse a couple of those for more ideas and

help:

Just an observation for you two. I have spent alot of time in Hawaii.

Weddings are a big business there. Hawaii vistors bureau has a list of

Wedding Service Companies in their publication: Islands of Aloha (free)

(and on their web site I think).

Honolulu and especially Waikiki are very popular with the Japanese. Many

people there in the tourism industry are bi-lingual, most of the stores

hotels and resturants have English and Japanese signage menus etc. so

you wont have to worry about your new inlaws feeling like "foreigners"

or out of place.

You might want to aim your browers at www.Sheraton-hawaii.com and peruse

the Moana Surfrider hotels' romance section to get an idea of what it

might cost you (I stay there (endorsement!) and have seen quite a number

of weddings taking place)
