What a misleading post , the debt you speak of is NOT Government Debt Relief though is it?
What a misleading post , the debt you speak of is NOT Government Debt though
is it? Government Debt has been reduced dramatically during the term of
this Government. Note the article refers to HOUSEHOLD DEBT
The "Debt Truck" guff referred to net foreign debt. Yes, the government
has reduced debt - and how? By selling Telstra - to who? In the most
part, to your average Australian.
The government simply transferred its debt onto the average Australian.
Any old ding-dong could have done that (in fact, one did).
For the record, foreign debt at:
30 June 2001: $311.0b
30 June 1996: $194.0b

And thanks to the peso status of our dollar (a grade "F" for our government
according to Peter Costello's marking system), repayments are so much
harder to make.
So the question remains - Mr Slicker, where the hell is that "Debt Truck"??
