Goverment Free Credit Report
I feel for the people that lost everything from the hurricane and I
have made a cash donation plus home made care packages asked for use by
local fire department here....
since you live in Mississippi, can you answer me this: If you live in a
city that is -below- sea level and close to the ocean, why fuck didn't
people leave for the weekend when warned?? Are Hurricanes that mundane
in that area? Even the poor people were offered rides from the
goverment FOR FREE and they didn't take advantage of it.
...and I wish people would get off Bush's back. What i'm angry about
is the measly 10 billion dollars donated by the goverment. More better
be comming. 15 billion of our money goes to AIDS in Africa and 5
billion went to the Tsunami victims.
I'm also sad I missed my chance to see a gratuitous amount of tits on
Burbon street in the old french quarter. Enjoy life while you can and
to the fullest, but have a plan B arsenal...
Near as I can figure from some of the interviews on TV, some of them
were poor because they were really dumb. Dumb people do dumb things.
Some wanted to be in their own homes and protect their possessions.
Some were too ill to move easily and maybe thought it'd be better to
stay home with their medications.
Some people like to stay home in hurricanes because it's fun or an
adventure or because they don't believe weathercasters or the
government.
Some moved to the government shelter at the football field and wound
up not a heck of a lot better off than some of the ones who'd stayed
home until today. As nearly as I recall, that's the only free moving
the government offered.
The ones doing the big time looting (rather than just taking clothing,
food, and water), raping, and killing probably stayed for the chance
to run wild and loot and rape and kill.
Some people lack common sense.
Most of the really poor lack cars, money for gas, and money for a
place to stay once out of town. If I heard my home town was going to
have a disaster, I have a vehicle, I have gas, I have money, and good
credit cards. I could be two hundred miles away in a few hours with a
place to stay (or at a campground. I keep camping stuff in my
trunk.). I could be several hundred miles away in a day. But what
would I be leaving behind? I'd take the cat, the very small objects
that I'm fond of and some computer disks, but the rest would have to
be left. If I thought it wasn't going to be a total disaster, just a
lights, water, and heat out, I'd stay home.
The less than total disaster was what was predicted (unless the
hurricane broke most of the Ponchetrain levees (and it didn't)) until
a day or two before the actual event. Not much time to get ready.
