I could have sworn that it used to be you could get one free credit report per year from each of the credit agencies by law. Whatever happened to free credit reports???
I could have sworn that it used to be you could get one free credit
report per year from each of the credit agencies by law. I just went
to their websites and they all charge. Oh, you can get a free credit
report only if you give them a credit card information and sign up for
a free membership with them (if it's free, why do they need my credit
card?). Even though you could do the membership for free just for a
month, I do not want to give them my credit card information.
Besides, what do they do with people who do not have credit cards?
Can they not get a free report?
If anyone has any information about how to get a truly free credit
report, no strings attached, please pass it on. It would be
appreciated. It seems unfair to the consumer that they can collect
any information about you they want, but they make it so hard to get a
free copy of that information IMO.
-There are a few states that have laws permitting a free report, but most do not.
The agencies that want your card number for a "free" report are probably signing
you up for their notification service. They inform you whenever anyone asks for
you
