Free Credit Check Without Credit Card
I asked the seller to explain this to me, since -
1) This was not stated in the auction terms.
2) I will not pay via PayPal using a credit card, but rather using
balance. Therefore accepting this payment should not cost you a thing.
3) Even if it costed you, eBay rules clearly make it illegal to roll
such fees on the buyer.
Now the seller answers:
"Obviously on small transactions I'd prefer not to pay paypal's
minimum fee which generally is $.45 with or without credit cards.
But, if you must please do....a check is much preferred."
The point is moot since with insurance the transaction is slightly over
$10. But I'm *most* confused about this now. Minimum fee for any PayPal
transaction? 45 cents or 75 cents? Is all this not simply entirely
against the rules?
the minimum fee for any payment to a paypal account which has been upgraded to
accept credit cards is .30 + 2.9%. that includes payments that would otherwise
be free (balance transfers and such). so the fee on a $10 transaction would be
.60 or 6%. most sane sellers would rather not pay it, especially on a
transaction that "should" be free for everyone.
yes it is against paypals and ebays terms to pass the charge to you.
