Skin care products no longer work?
Does your skin "get used" to the products that you are using and no longer
work? Or is it best to stick with one routine? I have changed skin care
products because I just wanted to try something new...not necessarily
because they didn't work anymore.
-My skin does get used to products. I use this as an opportunity to try
something new that I am curious about, and then I go back to my old favorites.
-There is no 'scientific' reason why your skin should get 'used' to
something, but it's a widely held 'wisdom' and one which quite senior
figures in the beauty bizz endorse.
The theory is that the skin is no longer 'challenged' by a very familiar
product, in much the same way that a muscle get used to a certain
exercise - therefore products should be switched every now & again.
Personally I do this anyway - I have dry/sensitive skin in the winter &
very oily skin in the summer - both times when the skin revertes more
towards 'normal'. So, although I always go back to Decleor, I do have
various other stuff to deal with all these eventualities
-I had never stayed with one skin care product long enough for my skin to quit
responding to it until being introduced to Pola. I've been using it for 8 or 9
months now and my skin is still responding to it. The Pola shampoo, which is
also fantastic, was different - after 3 bottles or so I did need to use
something different one or 2 days a week, which is what I still do. The Pola
shampoo is working it's wonders, and I'm addicted !
-I change my skin care routine every now and then, mostly due to af
lemming purchases. It seems to me that switching products makes
my skin look better. I'm wondering if it's similar to shampoos,
where you're supposed to give your usual shampoo a rest now and
then.
-or the most part, once you find a good routine, stick with it. But skin
can "get used" to some products per se. For example, AHA's can exfoliate
the skin to a certain point, so that glow you saw the first 6 months can
become dull. You could give your skin a "boost" by adding a mechanical
once-a-week scrub to your routine. Or a facial peel.
