Are there any good programs (/games) that can be used to realistically simulate a driving experience?
I have an idea that may be nuts (and if so, I'm sure someone will tell
me). My oldest daughter is turning 15 soon and in addition to a normal
drivers-ed class, I have been thinking about a way she can get practice
at driving -- on our computer.
Q1: Are there any good programs (games) that can be used to
realistically simulate a driving experience?
Q2: Assuming the answer to Q1 is 'yes', I would assume it would be
helpful to have a real steering wheel, gas pedal, & brake pedal. Are
there any computer input devices (plug into the game port) which
include all of the above? If so, which one is the 'best' (defined as
'most realistic')?
I imagine that the big computer supermarkets
still all have a long row of nothing but joysticks/
whatevers lined up for consumers to twiddle with.
Also, gamers' magazines and sites will probably
have whole sections devoted to driving/racing,
and I'll also bet that drivers ed would be a small
but almost certainly present subsection of that.
