DHC Skincare--reviews, rave, and question!
I've had samples forever and a whle back I ordered a wider variety of samples than just
the mild soap and balancing lotion that they send out everywhere...I have
already raved about the oil free eye makeup remover- good stuff! I have heard a
couple of people say that the mild soap dried their skin, but I always found
that it made my skin too moisturized. Now that my skin is drier I tried it
again. And let me stop right now and say that NO, I don't work for this
company..I actually know very little about them except that they claim to be
widely used/originate from Japan and they send catalogs with soap samples like
crazy...well, I tried more samples and actually have been LIKING the products
so much that I ordered several! I find this a nice basic line that works
well------one thing I hate is the prices though. A little too high! It adds up
to buy just a few choice products.
RAVE: I am REALLY loving the oil-free hydrator. It works WONDERS on my skin,
and has become my moisturizer of choice..I like it better than any kind of
"lotion" or cream, even other oil-free ones. It's wonderful...it comes in a
glass bottle with a pump and a little goes a long way. It looks like water and
goes on like toner...it feels greasy at first, but not oily-greasy or
anything...I'm thinking it's the glycerin, which gives it some slip....but it
absorbs well if you don't put too much on and works wonders...my skin doesn't
peel anymore, and no breakouts. I don't wear it under makeup during the day
because I use sunscreen, but I put this on every night and it is
refreshing...my skin loves it!! This product is really, really nice and I will
probably add it to my permanent, can't-live-without list. Like I said, if
you're not careful it feels greasy but if you use just a little it does go
along way and it just feels supple.
I also tried their collagen eye stick, and if it wasn't $30 for a small
lipstick sized stick, I would have ordered this too. This is a neat
product...kind of LIKE a lip balm for the eye area...I wouldn't say it erases
fine lines or works miracles but I use m sample of this whenever I want more
moisture under my eyes..at night. This does feel kind of waxy and
greasy...maybe I'm strange, but I like it! I prefer my trusty Zia Ultimate Eye
Cream and Origins Eye Doctor for steady use but I do like this product...I
wouldn;t use it under makeup and they claim you can use it OVER makeup anytime
..I wouldn't though. I can't explain why but I would buy this product if it
weren't so expensive but I think $30 is a bit much so I'll just use my sample
until it runs out. It is greasy/waxy but it never caused clogged pores or bumps
under my eyes.
I also liked the Balancing Lotion enough to order it, whereas it didn't
interest me at first. It contains glycolic acid and I use this after I wash
with the mild soap; this routine is nice and basic and nothing special but I
like to use these products- I have been rotating with my Pola Salus II.
Overall I like DHC although the prices are too high. Does anyone know anything
about this company? Is it really one of the leading skincare companies in
Japan??? It is labelled from Japan but I have never heard Japanese-skincare
enthusiasts comment on it, really...I have always been a little suspicous of
the catalogs, which have these handwritten notes (raves) from dozens of
customers...I always wondered if they had employees write those out or
something since they all sound the same. LOL.....if anyone knows anything else
about this skincare company or knows anyone who uses it...please post. I'd like
to hear more opinions on their products...they sure have a lot to choose from,
and seem "basic" not glamorous...but I am liking some of the products so far.
Theyre just too expensive to really experiment mch with ....I am disappointed
that now they don't let you request samples with your orders anymore...now they
have something going called the Olive Club, as you can see from their
website...darn...I wanted to keep getting free samples with my orders because
they would let you pick one each of any of their samples, so I'd get 1 each of
about 10 items.
When DHC first came out a few years back I ordered a kit of products for oily
skin and hated every one of them. I used them for about a week and found the
cleanser didn't clean well enough, the moisturizer was too heavy for oily skin,
the mask hurt my face, etc. etc. As such I never use any of the samples they
keep sending me; I merely pass them on in a swap in hopes that someone can use
them.
