Estate agent debt help !
I am in dispute with a estate agent over a bill for £1400.....I sent
them the sample letter referring to s.78 (1) Consumer Credit act 1974
(s.77 (1) for fixed sum credit) and today (3 months later ) their
solisitor has sent me a copy of the agency terms which i have
signed.........I know this may be a legal matter but where do I now
stand as the original agent was taken over by someone else and their
service was very poor to say the least....help please !
I dont want to evade the debt its just that I dont think their fees are
fair for the level of service provided
I don't think that anyone could give you any real advice based on the
information you have provided. I am assuming that the estate agent has
actually sold your house for you? With most agents their fee is a percentage
of the selling price - and you agree to that when you sign the contract. If
they have sold the house - in what respect have they not provided a proper
level of service? I think that the majority of people consider that Estate
Agents' fees are a rip-off - but if you sign a contract agreeing to them,
then you don't have much of a case to dispute them!
