Debt Collection Services ?
I am paying off a student overdraft to the HSBC via Metropolitan Collection
Services. I have been paying it off weekly at the agreed £10 per week since
last year without any problems. They hold my electron card details and
normally take the payment out every Fri which was what I had agreed to.
However, last week and the week before they also took a £10 payment on the
Tues as well as the Fri ones. This resulted in me getting a £20 unauthorised
overdraft charge and a £30 charge for not having the funds in my account to
cover one of the payments (luckily my bank has waived these charges as I
have never had charges applied to the account before) I got a call from
Metropolitan Collection Services yesterday to say they had inadvertently
destroyed my card details (good news) and wanted to take them again. Am I
within my rights to refuse to give them my card details again due to the two
unauthorised transactions and could I refuse to deal with them further and
ask for the debt to be referred either back to HSBC or to another company.
Thanks
- You can't change the company - the debt has been sold on to the
management company, or they are managing it on behalf of the bank... If
anyone, they are providing a service to the bank, not yourself - so you
can't change who the service provider i
