Crm Product Software-MS CRM v1.2 t
With the announcement of MS CRM v1.2 there was also the announcement of new
distribution and pricing models. Here's the article on PartnerSource:

To summarize, MS CRM will be sold via the Volume Licence Program. That is,
only Authorized License Providers will be able to sell the product. Margins
are based on some criteria as to what role the MS CRM Certified Software
Advisor plays in the process.
This is the same scheme as MS Office and server products. my opinion is
that MS CRM is significantly different in that it requires business process
consulting for a successful installation. It is rare that an organization
can purchase a CRM product and be able to define processes and successfully
implement it themselves.
Most MBS Partners exist because they get margins on software sales and also
charge for services. Taking away the sofware margins makes it a very
different business model...one that current MBS resellers probably won't
like and will likely drop their MS CRM practice.
As an MBS MS CRM Reseller, we will likely drop our CRM practice if this
model is implemented.
Any other thoughts or opinions?
You got that right. This just shows the lack of responsiblithy Microsoft has
for its partners. I guess 50 billion dollars on the books isn't good enough.
I totally agree with you. The funny thing is that Microsoft might think that
just by making the product more widely available they are going to increase
sales, but we partners could be selling tons more if we had a decent product
in hand. The truth is that the product is not "there" yet, and selling it
over the counter is not going to change that.
