Microsoft Dynamics CRM question
Our company would like to deploy CRM 3.0 on a virtual server. A few day ago
I found this White Paper
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6b32e0b3-552...)
where on the page 62 you can found that using CRM on a VM decrease
performance of CRM:
Deploying Microsoft Dynamics CRM to Virtual Servers
Deploying Microsoft Dynamics CRM in a virtual environment is not supported
in production. You can install Microsoft Dynamics CRM on computers that are
running either Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 or Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 (or
latest version). However, note the following support conditions:
• Because of decreased performance, do not use Microsoft Dynamics CRM
running on a virtual server as your main production business environment.
• Microsoft Customer Support Services will consider Collaboration Requests
and hotfix investigations for issues that involve Microsoft Dynamics CRM and
Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 or Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 only in test,
development, and demonstration systems.
Does somebody has expirience with it?
1. Microsoft offers a VPC image for CRM which is for training, testing
and demonstration purposes. It doesnt require licenses and is valid
for 30-45 days only.
The files can be downloaded from the MSCRM website. the combined size
of all the 6 files is about 3.5 GB. There are certain pre-requisites
which you need to take care of before installing the VPC image.
2. Installing the actual CRM on virtual servers is not advisable coz
of the resources which get used.
Why are u keen on installing CRM on virtual servers ? For academic
interest or for a production environment ?
I dont suppose you are facing hardware shortage issues here.
