Does anyone know if the credit report agencies?

Does anyone know if the credit report agencies (Equifax, Experian,

Transunion) are required by law to keep logging information to identify

who makes changes to consumer home address information?

I am asking because I just got off the phone with Equifax, and they are

telling me that they have zero information to tell me who changed my

home street address sometime over the past 6 months even though I have

a California credit freeze on my credit information. This problem only

occurred at Equifax. In fact, Equifax is telling me that they cannot

even tell me when the change occurred. Fortunately, I have a printed

copy of my Equifax report from six months ago, and so I know it

occurred over the past six months.

I am actively asking the California Attorney General for feedback on

this issue to see if any California state laws have been violated, but

if anyone here can shed any additional light on what Equifax told me

that would be appreciated.
What kind of address change are you talking about. You live in

California and now there is a Toledo, Ohio address on your credit

report? Or does it look like someone has simply reported your address

with a typo?

Did Equifax tell you that they can't remove it? If it is inaccurate, I

believe they have to, but you may have to go through the appropriate

process and not just call them.

Putting a fraud alert on your credit report does not lock it. Your

creditors and even certain other parties can still put information into

it.
