categories in a credit card transaction ?
I hope someone can help! I've just switched from an old
version of Quicken to Money 2002. In Money's account
register, I enter my credit card payment, but it doesn't
show the categories for each credit card transaction that
month -- that would take a long time to enter
eqch "split" amount and category.
Separately, I download the credit card statement. If I
assign categories to each transaction on the credit card
statement (much quicker, since each transaction is
already there), is there any way to link this assignment
to the credit card transaction inside the register, so
that the register transaction doesn't appear
uncategorized?
Make the payment a Transfer. What you will want to do in the future
is to change the first download of the payment (from checking or cc)
into a transfer to/from the other account. On the second download
ensure that the payment is matched to the transfer. Money may figure
it out, or you may have to click change.
