Can anyone provide information on services specializing in providing
credit card service to start-up businesses on the Internet?
I have talked to several companies that insist that the business must
have a "physical location with a sign" and/or 3 years of operations.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The company that pursues these types of accounts most agressively
seems to be Card Services Intl and its many reps.... ;-) You will see them
posting all over alt.business.misc and alt.business.multi-level. There are
also quite a few docs floating on the net that describe the best way to
approach getting a CC merchant account and keeping it. Another company that
sometimes helps out small businesses is "Teleflora" in California.
Getting a CC Merchant Account follows a relatively rigid pattern:
1) $100 Application Fee. You won't get this back, account granted or denied.
2) ~$300 Terminal Download Fee or Software Fee. Generally, you have to pay
$300 for something when you get the account, no getting out of it.
3) Monthly Statement Fee: $5 - $10.
4) Discount Rate: 2% - 4% (small business)
5) Per Transaction Fee: 0.10 to 0.50
