Which Online Credit Card Processor...Please Help

I've been bumming around now for a couple of weeks trying to find a credit

card processor that best suits my needs and thought I'd ask for

recommendations.

I don't have a merchant account so need a provider that will clear the funds

for me.

I also want to take telephone/fax orders and pass them thru my online

account.

I don't mind paying a small setup fee but I don't want to get into monthly

charges as initally there may be no transactions.

I have about six products all customers only buy one at a time so I intend

to have a web page per product each with a 'Buy Now' button (rather than a

cart style). The items are reasonably high value (from £175 ($220))

I've looked at using Paypal which looks simple enough to setup but I have

doubts on two issues with Paypal - My customers have to register with Paypal

which may put them off and I've read reports that Paypal get very nervous

when the initial purchase is over $100 and request copy passports etc.

I'd appreciate any advise or comments, especially from users of Paypal.
This is called "factoring". It's common but in the small print you'll find

they work around it by your making them the primary retailer and you stay a

tag-along that is providing them the merchandise. It creates a lot of

charge-backs and lost sales when they get their card statements. It also

doesn't look real cool if you explain that in advance on your web pages.

It's sort of like having a store ask you to go next door to pay for your

purchase or to go get a money order and come back {grin}.

Question: doubts on two issues with Paypal - My customers have to register with Paypal

Answer: Lot's of folks are unhappy with PayPal for a number of reasons. If you want

a real ecommerce setup with no mickeymouse stuff, drop me a note.
