mixing retin-a and cellex-C
I've recently tried a little experiment mixing Cellex-C cream with
Retin-A cream.
I'm not normally so cavalier with prescription drugs, but I mixed up a
small amount, about a 1:3 ratio of .05% Retin-A cream to Cellex-C.
Does anyone have any informed speculations as to what the result might
be? Will they neutralize each ,synergize each other or what? Applying
the combo to a test patch resulted in no irritation.
While Celex C is great to promote collagen production in the skin, and
helps repair sun damage and in many cases prevent it. Retin A is a
resurfasing agent... One of the side effects that I have noticed on my
clients when they use Rettin A is that their skin (the epidermis) becomes
very thin, and it can be literraly (I have seen this) torn if the skin is
ever waxed or scratched. Rettin A also will make you photosensitive
(sencitive to the sunlight). and cellex C has a tendency to irritate the
skin in some patients. I would be very careful about the way you use the
two of them. for my clients I recomend other types of vitamin A that don't
have such harsh side effects, and when I recomend the use of this retinoids
with arscobic acid (the same vitamin C found in Celex C) I recomend the use
to be alternated Vitamin A one day, Vitamin C the next, and when the skin
is ready and the client want's to see faster results I recomend Vitamin C
in the morning (due to the sun protection properties that it has) and
vitamin A at night so you don't have to worry about the sun. If you were
to use them together it might be to irritating to your skin, you might not
notice it until about 3 or 4 days later. Please be very careful and always
ask your skin care proffesional or your dermatologist about the
counterindications and best ways to use them for optimum results. and
always remember to use sunblock (one with titanium dioxide) to help your
skin.
