skin care - ingredients questions
does anyone know where i can go on the internet to find the
benefits of the following ingredients i am adding my herbs
to?
Beeswax
Honey
Lanolin
Salt
-I can't remember the benefits of beeswax, other than it's a good, natural,
NON-petroleum base to use to make ointments.
Honey - nature's own skin moisturizer. I use it in my bath oils and
soaps.
Lanolin - I don't remember the exact nutrients, but it's great for your
skin. The best pair of gloves I ever owned were from Napa goat skin,
which has a high content of natural lanolin. Made my hands wonderfully
soft.
Salt - Pulls impurities from the body. Don't use too much or too often.
I use two different kinds blended in my bath salts. It's great for
things like soaking sprained ankles, easing sore muscles, etc.
-As for beeswax, I've been told it has some slight antibacterial properties
(without adding chemicals). (It makes a great polish for wood and other
stuff when combined with linseed (flaxseed) oil.) Honey also has some of
these characteristics, as well as those mentioned by the goddess Kitten.
There are other bases you can use that are beneficial too, like jojoba oil
and cocoa butter. You can find these on the web by doing a search for
soapmaking supplies. I mostly use, http://www.rainbowmeadows.com/ but
there are many on the web.
