Seeking skin care advice

I know this is a fairly frequent question around here (and I have done my
deja search like a good af'er) -- but I figured that people's opinions
change, lines change, new lines sprout up -- hence, I'm seeking
advice/opinions on good skin care. I'm 29, have combination skin, and at
present, it's fairly irritated. I've always had very good skin -- clear and
smooth, few breakouts. Within the last month or so, my skin has become red
and irritated, and I'm breaking out with a new frequency. Needless to say,
I'm not happy. So I'm asking you skin care divas for recommendations
(anything but Salus II, which I tried and didn't like).

I'm also considering taking the Creme de la Mer plunge, so I'd be interested
to hear opinions/reactions re this, as well.
-first...creme de la mer is very thick....you may find it too thick for
combination skin. and you will only find it healing if you have no sensitivity
to lanolin.
mario badescu sells a nice product, healing cream, which soothes my skin
tremendously, for about $12 a jar.
also, if you hated salus, you will really hate vitax, unfortunately.
some other great moisturisers are...complex 15, purpose, shu uemura, sisley,
orlane, chanel's new line, karin herzog, sothy's, all available online
somewhere.

-A common skin condition of women in their late 20's and early 30's is
perioral dermatitis. It causes redness and breakouts on the chin area
and in the corners of the nose. The treatment is similar to rosacea.
Not all derms recognize this condition - my first one didn't and
actually made it worse.
