Skin care question

I figure if anyone would have any insight into this, it'd be the ANCW.

I regularly keep two different sorts of shampoo/conditioner in the
shower - like right now, I have Pantene and White Rain. I find that
if I don't use the same shampoo all the time, my hair looks better.
So I alternate - one or two days of one shampoo followed by one day of
the other (plus once-a-week deep conditioning). And the brands change
all the time too - I have Neutrogena shampoo waiting for when the
Pantene runs out, which should be in a week or so. I've been doing
this for years and it seems to work pretty well.

Does anyone know if the same sort of thing is good for skin? I'm
totally girlie when it comes to cosmetics and skin care - I like to
try all kinds of new things, but I'm never sure if it's a good idea or
not. Maybe my skin would like it better if I just stuck to one
routine?

My current skincare routine is as follows:

Morning: Clinique soap and toner, followed by Johnson&Johnson's
Purpose moisturizer, with SPF 15. A couple of times a week I use an
apricot scrub, but I think I'm going to change that to Clinique's
7-day scrub cream or whatever it's called, since I really liked the
sample of it I had a while back.

Night: Neutrogena foaming face wash, followed by tea tree oil on my
blemishes (I thought acne was supposed to magically disappear when you
entered your 20s. Guess I was wrong!). I'll put moisturizer on if I
feel like I need it - usually Clinique's goopy yellow stuff, though I
have a sample of some Mary Kay night lotion (I can't remember what
it's called) that I've used for the last couple of nights....I like
it, except for the smell. Twice a week, I use a tea tree oil mask.

So I already use all kinds of junk, as you can see. But there's
always new stuff I'd like to try! Should I just stick to one routine
(the above one is actually somewhat new) or is it okay to change
things up sometimes and try out new products?

If it matters, I have combination skin - my nose and inner cheeks get
sort of oily, though not nearly as badly as it used to be back in my
teenage years. My forehead and cheeks (from the cheekbones to the
ears) are pretty dry. My chin and jaw don't seem oily, but that's
where I always break out (I seem to remember reading somewhere that
adult acne tends to be along the jawline?).
I'm in the stick with one thing category. I started using the Mary Kay
skin care products almost 20 years ago. Formulas have changed and new
products have come along during that time but I'm basically still using
Mary Kay. I'm currently using the new TimeWise products.

Whichever products you finally decide to use there is one thing to
consider. Many of the products in a particular line are formulated to
work together. So, if you have Company A's cleanser and Company B's
moisturizer you may not get the same benefit from them as if you used
Company A's or B's cleanser and moisturizer together.

Unfortunately, I'm living proof that acne or occasional blemishes can
occur well into your 40s. I especially break out around that TOM.

Not sure which Mary Kay night lotion you have. Could be Nightime
Recovery System, or Extra Emollient Night Cream. Is it just a white
lotion or is it the pink stuff?

You'll probably get bunches of different answers. As I said before I'm
in the find something you like and stick with it category. My sister,
on the other hand, is always trying the newest stuff. If you want to
go try new stuff and your skin doesn't react to the changes then go for
it and have some fun.

Odd, mine tends to be around my nose and chin mostly with an occasional
problem along the jaw line.
