Whats everyones take on call center Careers?
Whats everyones take on call center Careers?
Are they really what hell would be like if you could live thru it?
I've heard the horror stories about a few of the main ones...and have met
some people who do like them.
Some would of course say..anything is better than nothing.
Although call centers with their call quotas, timed washroom breaks,
discipline and regime is probably the modern equivelant of the sweat
job.....
Any recommends?
They are as bad as they are pegged to be.
Back in the mid 1990's, our provincial government set up a special arm of
then the Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism to concentrate on nothing
else but to attract call centre business to this city. Back then this was
the idea of bringing in skilled technology jobs to our city and province but
in reality is provided plenty of $7 to $10 hourly wages jobs that you just
cannot live off of nowadays.
And yes, there are timed washroom/relief breaks in some call centres as
these places are rather upset that some people take too long to go to the
bathroom. And if you are deemed to take too long in some cases you need to
explain your reason for taking so long.
And you are forgetting that many of these call centres are doing business in
the United States because of our 63-cent dollar. Nothing more depressing
than to conduct a opinion research survey on the phone with a dim-witted
American.
Just my 2 cents to the issue!
I agree, any job is better than nothing and if you are looking to find a job
quick then go apply at a call centre. IF anything, the longer you are there
the more motivated you would be in looking for something that much better.
