adult acne - black skin
Does anyone out there has information on skin care products for black
skin w/ adult acne. My dermatalogist has me on Tretinoin or
retin-a-micro & cleocin for the last 6 mos. & my skin has develop a ashy
two tone discoloration on my neck and face. My complexion is like
"tyra banks".
The "ashiness" is probably from dryness. Try to find a good oil-free
moisturizer or mix plain glycerin (from your pharmacist) with water and
smooth on the dry areas every morning until the dryness subsides. The
glycerin is non-comedogenic and you only need a couple drops for your whole
face. I have very light skin and my face chapped quite a bit the first few
weeks - you may even want to cut back on the Retin-A to every other night
and use only a pea sized drop for the whole face. You may also want to
check with your derm and see if he'll switch you to Retin-A Micro if you're
not already using it. It is a gel-based and much less irritating than the
regular cream or gel.
