Be careful using your debit or credit card online ??
I recently had a company charge almost $400.00 to my bank debit card. I
think it was done from my paypal account but I have no way to prove it.
I did get the money back but it took almost a month.
I had to go to my bank and fill out papers and then they even sent more
papers in the mail for me to fill out.
My bank did cancel my debit card for me and sent me a new one with a new
number. I will never use my card to make a purchase like for instance at
walmart. com. I will phone my order in that way it will not have to be
done online. Most companies have a 800 number that you can call to place
your order. As for Ebay I will only buy from sellers who will accept a
check or a US Postal Money Order. This is the only way I know of to
protect my debit card number from being stolen online from some hacker.
I have a couple of auctions that I have right now, one has paid and the
other is going to be a NPB, it has been over 3 weeks and I have not
heard anything from this buyer. I am not a regular seller I just sold a
couple of Items that I bought and didn't use. After these auctions have
been compleated, I am going to close my Paypal account. I do not want to
do this but I also don't want to have to go threw the hassle of getting
my money back. These charges caused me to have a overdraft which the
bank finally gave me back all of those charges.
Take it from me be careful when using your debit/credit cards online.
There is always someone our there wanting to steal them.
You go to a restaurant, and are presented with the bill. The minimum
wage waitron then disappears into the kitchen with your card. What
exactly is he doing back there?
You go to a small shop that still uses the old-style carbon paper credit
card slips. They give you your receipt, and toss the carbon. Think
someone dumpster diving could do something with all those carbons?
You would never give out your bank account number online, but happily
write a check to the paperboy. You do know that your account number is
printed on every check, right?
I feel for your misfortune, Tink, but the reality is that online
transactions are just as safe, if not safer, than real life ones.
