Bridal Fashion Jewelry
I'm not one for fashion, at all. I like my clothes comfortable and
functional, if they look nice on me, that's a bonus.
This coming June, I'm going to the wedding of my husband's best friend.
It's going to be in Upstate NY, in the middle of June. So it's probably
going to be warm, if not hot.
Since Frank's going to be in the wedding party (I think he's going to be
the best man), and in a tux (assuming they can find one big enough for
him), I want to look good, too.
I don't have a lot of information about the wedding at this point. It's a
Jewish wedding, it's going to be on a Sunday, in the afternoon I believe
(but I don't know for certain yet). The groom and groom's men will be in
tuxes, and I assume the bride will be dressed to the nines (when she was
12, she was given the choice, and bang up bat mitzvah, or they put the
money in an account for the wedding of her dreams, she knew even then she
wanted the wedding of her dreams, I'm guessing this is going to be a fancy
affair, she's leaving the plans to her mother).
I'm at a loss, but I've got plenty of time for planning and getting the
money together for a nice outfit (thinking of making some jewelry for
whatever dress I get).
So here's my thing.
What colours should I NOT wear 'cos it's rude? I know I'm not supposed to
wear white or cream, right? I don't look that great in reds, so that's not
so much a problem, but would purple be verboten, too (I love purples)?
Should I just go for black? Also, any suggestions for great dresses
that'll look good on me?
I don't wear heels, ever. I'll probably just buy some "ballerina slippers"
to go with whatever dress I get. I like long dresses 'cos I'm not going to
wear panty hose, not even for Ira and his beloved.
I could really use some fashion help in this. Thanks in advance.
People say the rules have changed, but I'm an old poop who says no black to
weddings (save it for a funeral--which I seem to go to more of than weddings
these days). Purple is an excellent choice.
I wouldn't wear a long dress to an afternoon wedding but a nice pantsuit
would work. If it were me, I'd wear a longish tunic top with an
interestingly irregular hem. That bridal shoes website that was discussed
here recently had the shoes I would wear--dyable satin flats (I think ballet
slippers are just too casual) to either match the dress or in a
complementary shade.
But all this is just stuff I would wear. Oh, and if your outfit is all one
color and the jewelry is really showy, that would be a great look. I assume
you want your jewelry noticed.
