Questions about bankruptcy ?
If a person files bankruptcy and has say an AMEX and DiscoverCard, are they
still allowed to use those cards after bankruptcy has been filed?
What keeps some one from running up large bills on credit cards, say in a
month's time, and then filing bankruptcy?
If some one charges 2 years of ABC's service on their AMEX card then files
bankruptcy, can ABC denie the 2 years service?
If the person uses ABC's service for the 2 years after filing bankruptcy,
can they renew for a 3rd year or does ABC have the right to refuse renewal?
Is that descrimination?
I have heard of attornies that will clean the bankruptcy from your record.
It cost about $500 and within 90 days, the bankruptcy doesn't show on your
record. Is that possible? It sort of defeats the consequences of someone
getting out of debt so easily.
Assuming morality won't, the credit card companies will contest the
dischargeability of debts incurred with the expectation of filing for
bankruptcy.
Assuming there is no contractual obligation to renew, ABC can legally
refuse to renew for any legal reason. The fact that you filed for
bankruptcy is a legal reason
provided that the issuers have been informed about the bankruptcy
and have no objection to extending credit.
bankruptcy is a bad deal from the get go. It should be used as
an absolute last resort. I learned a lot about bankruptcies AFTER I
had one. Bad way to learn. If you're considering doing it, consider
all of the options. Continueing with five more years of bills is far
better than seven or nine years of bankruptcy on your record.
