information about Bankruptcy Filing Fee,question and answer?
-Question A: I was wondering normally how much time and money would it cost to file a
Ch. 7 bankruptcy in California? And how do I start filing one?
-Question B: I was wondering what is the difference between a filing fee and a legal
fee? I assume that a filing fee is for filing the bankruptcy, labor for
the paperworks and stuffs, but what is the legal fee? Do you go to court
and have a long trials, etc...? Also, is the amount fixed? Don't want the
lawyer to tell me it cost $500, then charged me $5000 later
-The filing fee is $200. Legal fees run from about $300 to $1,000 for a basic
Chapter 7. You usually get what you pay for.
-The filing fee is the amount paid to the Court to file. The legal fee is the
amount you pay your lawyer. Most consumer bankruptcies are handled on a flat
fee basis.
