Credit checks in the USA
I'll be moving to the US shortly and I'm curious about thecredit
checks there. I'm from the Uk and I'm wondering if when I apply for a
mortgage/loan/credit card if they'll be checking my credit back in the
UK? I'm considering taking a small loan before I move so that my
wife & I will be able to put a down payment on a house.
Mortgage is different, but otherwise no.
Which also means that you have a small to nil chance of securing a loan.

Taking out a loan to use as a down payment? Hmm... bad move financially!
You will have to establish your own credit rating in the US... they will
not check your credit in the UK.
It's a born-again experience. Enjoy the ride!
The "taking a loan out in Blighty to use as a down payment for a house
in the US sounds rather iffy to little old moi. Is this a wise move?
Further questions...
Are you going to be on a big salary with a prestigious corporate giant
or just Joe average?
Have you got a UK Amex card?
Is the wife a USC? Does she have a US credit history? Is it a good one?
You might be better posting this up top for more replies. Perhaps a
friendly mod would move it if you ask.
